Any person who employs an employee. This also includes the State, labour brokers and any person controlling the employer’s business. The employer pays premiums to RMA in return for cover of their employees in case of an occupational injury or disease.

What is the difference between RMA and compensation fund?
COID is the compensation that an employee receives in the event of injury, illness or death resulting from a workplace accident. Most employers will contribute to the workmen’s Compensation Fund as insurance for workplace accidents, while RMA provides specialist cover for Mining and the Iron, Steel and Metals industry.
How do I report an incident with RMA?
You will need to complete and submit an affidavit to RMA containing details of the accident (date, time, where and how the accident took place). RMA will thereafter interact with your employer to ensure that the accident is reported.
